Cupra has unveiled the updated version of its popular Formentor SUV in Australia, featuring a new design and upgraded features. The new Formentor now sports a sleek shark nose and updated lighting details on the exterior, along with a revamped infotainment system and the addition of a new plug-in hybrid powertrain option. This model was introduced alongside the Leon hatchback and wagon, with plans to launch early in 2025.
While the updated look is eye-catching, the major changes are found under the hood. The 2025 Formentor will offer a range of powertrains, starting with a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 110kW of power mated to a six-speed manual transmission in Europe. Additionally, three variants will be available with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, ranging from 150kW with all-wheel drive to 245kW with all-wheel drive in the top model. The top model also includes a Torque Splitter rear differential, allowing for features like Drift Mode. The Formentor will also be offered with a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine, a 2.0-litre diesel, and two plug-in hybrid models. These plug-in hybrids combine a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with an electric motor and a 19.7kWh lithium-ion battery pack, providing over 100km of electric range. The entry-level plug-in model offers 150kW of power, while the more expensive model generates 200kW. Both models support DC charging up to 50kW and 11kW AC charging. In Australia, the Formentor is currently available with petrol engine options producing 140kW, 180kW, and 228kW, as well as a plug-in hybrid model. Inside, the Formentor boasts a new 12.9-inch infotainment system with backlit touch sliders and updated software for easier access to key functions. Optional features include a premium 12-speaker Sennheiser sound system. Overall, the newly updated Cupra Formentor offers a range of powerful and efficient powertrain options, along with updated design elements and technology enhancements for an improved driving experience.2025 Cupra Formentor: A Powerful Combination of Aggressive Style and Drift Mode
