Driver training and driving experiences have become a popular trend among luxury brands, with BMW, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz all offering opportunities for owners to test out a range of performance cars in a controlled environment. These experiences usually involve trained instructors guiding participants through various exercises to enhance their driving skills. While training days and track days are common, some enthusiasts may be looking for a more adrenaline-pumping experience.

That's where the BMW Snow and Ice Experience comes in. After a five-year hiatus, this program is making a comeback, offering participants the chance to learn how to control a sliding car on icy terrain. Located at the Southern Hemisphere Proving Ground in Queenstown, New Zealand, this program is designed to help drivers "unleash their full potential at the wheel" in challenging winter conditions.

Prices for the experience start at $4450 per person for a single-day session, with options for longer packages that include accommodation and helicopter transfers for $6500 per person. Participants will have the opportunity to drive a range of BMW vehicles, including the M3, X3 M40i, and Mini Countryman models, during activities such as snow drifting, drag racing, and a snowy motorkhana. The program also offers a ride-along with a professional driver to showcase the capabilities of the cars.

BMW is not the only brand offering such experiences in New Zealand, as Lamborghini recently announced its Esperienza Neve program will also be available at the same proving ground in Queenstown starting in 2023. Luxury car enthusiasts now have the chance to push their driving skills to the limit in a thrilling winter wonderland setting.
